Copyright - Video Content

For all our creative friends out there: Ever wondered who the owner of COPYRIGHT in VIDEO CONTENT is - the client, agency or videographer - well here's your answer:

Copyright is conferred to the owner of the video content. The "Owner" is the person by whom arrangements for making the film were made. E.g. where a person commissions the making of a cinematographic film and pays or agrees to pay for it in money or money's worth, and the work is made in pursuance of that commission, such person shall be the owner of any copyright - i.e. THE CLIENT. This right can be excluded by agreement though. So, even if the agency came up with the idea - the client still owns it!
